Go Team

“MISSIONAL LEADERSHIP IS ABOUT CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT WITHIN WHICH THE PEOPLE OF GOD IN A PARTICULAR LOCATION MAY THRIVE.” – ALAN ROXBURGH

The call from Scripture is clear: God’s people are called to GO into the world, and as they are going, to make disciples. We believe that the Gospel is advanced and discipleship begins as the people of God immerse themselves in their communities for the purpose of showing love to their immediate circle of influence. The purpose of the GO Team is to create a culture of missional engagement within SunRidge. To create opportunities for the people of our church to bring an incarnational flavor to their lives.

What is the GO Team?

The GO Team is a group of 8–10 Christ-followers, led by a Ministry Team Leader who function in unity under the direction of the Holy Spirit to lead the church in response to the initiating work of God in their midst. It is tasked with creating a culture of missional engagement within the Church – with fostering both the desire and opportunity for people to reach their communities with the love of Christ.

How important is The GO Team?

As we have outlined above, mission is an essential, defining facet of the work of any Church. A Church without mission is simply a crowd, and those who would call the crowd to respond to God’s initiating work are serving in a crucial part of the Church. Our desire is that eventually the GO Team will work in tandem with all other ministry teams in SunRidge (Worship, Hospitality, Student, Small Groups, etc…) to create a missional environment in all of those contexts.

What will we do?

The GO Team will have two primary tasks: Cultural Architecture and Strategic Initiatives. It is essential that “events” do not become all we do – but they must be some of what we do. The GO Team will find an effective blend of empowering others to live incarnationally in their personal contexts, and also creating real opportunities for individuals to engage in Church-wide missional endeavours (Love West Kelowna, Community Christmas Dinner, etc..)

In addition to this there will be monthly meetings of the GO Team to pray, discuss ministry movement, evaluate effectiveness, and share stories of what is happening in our midst.
