Obedience.

Genesis 22

Obedience.

God calls Abraham and asks him to sacrifice, Isaac, his son. No fight. No argument. Abraham packs his things the next morning and sets out on his journey with Isaac. He follows through with God’s instructions right up until God intervenes and spares Isaac.

What was going through their heads? Was Abraham calm about it? Or was he pleading with God to change His mind?

Such a step of faith.

I want to be an obedient follower of Christ. I really do. I want to be the type of person who will go and do whatever it is God calls me to do. But I often wonder, “would I?”

What if God asks me to do something challenging and painful .. like He did Abraham?

Would I be as obedient?

There is so much life and adventure in saying “yes” to God’s call .. I just hope I am bold enough to respond.

Father, I have seen your faithfulness in my life and in the life of many others. I have seen that you take care of us, when we listen and follow you and when we don’t. So continue to help me be bold and obedient. May I embrace risk and challenge in Your name. I love you. Amen.
