Set Free!

This morning as I was doing my devotions in Ephesians 1 I saw something I have been praying for that is also a deep desire of GOD’s. I have been praying that our home would be an “undivided house” and here in Ephesians 1:10 is the reminder that under Christ, GOD’s goal is “to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head…” This is His vision, to see us all holy and blameless, redeemed and serving Him with joy and freedom. Wouldn’t this be heaven and earth joining hands? Wouldn’t this pull “the house” together through Jesus Christ.

This weekend we are hosting the Set Free weekend. Two days of staring down what steals from our freedom in Jesus: sin, past hurts, offences, “things” that have lodged themselves into our lives and are hindering us. It is a simple yet powerful experience to be set free. Freedom sounds so appealing, yet why do we shy away from what brings freedom? People have such a tendency to hide, and yet in the hiding, we create more pain for ourselves. It’s a slick strategy of the enemy we so easily buy into.

I was part of a set free weekend last winter and it was life changing. Truly. Today I am posting Jo Ann’s story of her experience at set free.

As we keep hosting these weekends, may our church family move towards these with a deep desire to walk without chains or strongholds or pasts that keep lurking and tugging on us. Jesus came to set us free!

This is one of those times when you have to just say “I am going to do this.” Don’t overthink, don’t wait until you feel right and all the planets align. Don’t delay. I urge you to walk towards freedom as a decision to something great for your walk with Jesus.
